After we went to the Jerwood Space and Purdy Hicks we went off in small groups to visit more galleries. My group decided to go to Somerset House. Somerset House is home to London Fashion Week and is a big venue for arts and cultural exhibitions. It was bigger than I expected it to be and was quite imposing to look at.
We weren’t exactly sure what exhibitions we would find but it was well worth visiting.
The exhibition was showing Derek Jarman’s work.
I have to confess, I’d never heard of him but it was an educational exhibition. It was more film work than photography but it was very interesting to see the relationship between the moving image and the sounds/words that went along with it.
Unfortunately the writing was quite hard to photograph in the far left image but I think it is still legible.
